Kmart
Kmart provides employment opportunities and coaching activities to young people on the Ganbina program.
Store Manager Brendan Rowney says: “We have formed a very solid partnership with Ganbina and work with them in several ways to support the young people in their programs.
Firstly, we provide various employment opportunities here in the store.
Secondly, we are also developing a program of coaching activities to help young people understand what employers are looking for when they hire new employees.
One example of this is a mock interview program where they can gain experience conducting a successful interview in a ‘safe’ environment. The aim here is to help them make the most of their interview opportunities, not only with Kmart but with other employers as well.”
Officeworks
Officeworks partners with Ganbina to provide our participants with work experience and employment opportunities.
Store Manager Paul Trewan says, “Work experience is very important for young people when deciding what they want to do after school.
We have some of Ganbina’s school-aged participants work here for one or two shifts a week over a four to six week period so they can experience first-hand how the business operates.
We also offer after-school work for 15 to 18 Year Olds in Shepparton and can arrange for transfers to Melbourne for participants who move there to go to university.
It’s great to help young Indigenous people get off to a great start in their careers.”
